tapping:

ROLL FORMING:

BALAX:
Balax roll form taps are designed and manufactured with lead form geometry correction. This process yields reduced tapping torque by creating lead threads on pitch. Roll form or "threadfloer" forming taps make stronger threads, have generally longer tool life and make no chips. Balax makes taps to ANSI, DIN and JIS sizes in plug, bottom, or 1 lead chamfers. Balax stocks a great variety of thread limits in both metric and inch sizes.

OSG:
OSG's version of the roll form tap is called the NRT style. OSG manufactures their taps from two types of materials. Depending on your tapping requirements, you may choose a tap made from compressed powder (CPM) treated with a TiCN coating, or a cobalt material in bright, TiN, TiCN, or CRN coating. Taps are available in #0-#12 sizes, as well as 1/4" to 3/4". Metric sizes are stocked from M1.6 to M12.
